World Book Day 2024

WORLD BOOK DAY GIVEAWAY 2024

This year at Philosophy Education we celebrated World Book Day with a wonderful book giveaway!

The team at Philosophy Education were all asked to choose their favourite children’s book. There were lots of fond memories and chat about the books that had influenced and inspired them as children and even more when the books arrived.

On World Book Day 2024, we launched our competition across Instagram and Facebook asking our staff and schools to share their memories of their favourite children’s books. We entered everyone who commented in to a draw with the winner having the opportunity to choose the school that would receive all the books. Over the next 4 days, lots of entries came in and finally a winner was chosen.

Congratulations to our winner Jennifer & Plumstead Manor School

Our winner Jennifer has worked with Philosophy Education for a number of years supporting students with Special Educational Needs within the DSP at Plumstead Manor school in Greenwich. She didn’t hesitate to request that they received the package of books.

Sarah Newman (Senior consultant) visited the school the following week to congratulate Jennifer and deliver the books. The Head of the DSP commented on how much the students will enjoy accessing new books and that the broad range of styles chosen by the team will support students working at all levels.

What is World Book Day?

World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries and within the UK the World Book Day charity promotes reading for pleasure and offers every child the opportunity to have a book of their own.

In the UK, nearly 1,000,000 children don’t have a book of their own’ (National Literacy Trust). Having access to books and developing a love of reading for pleasure is vital for a child’s future. Our vision is to see more children, from all backgrounds, developing a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and benefitting from the improved life chances this brings them. (www.worldbookday.com)

Philosophy Education are proud to have supported World Book Day this year and look forward to more events to support our schools and promote reading for pleasure.
