A welcoming secondary school in Bromley is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Sports Coach / Enrichment HLTA to join its team on a one-year fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sports Coach, HLTA, Teaching Assistant or individual with a strong background in youth sport who is looking to develop their career within a secondary school environment.

The Role

Working closely with the PE department and wider pastoral and inclusion teams, you will help increase pupils’ participation in sport and physical activity across the school.

You will:

• Plan and deliver structured sporting activities during breaktimes and lunchtimes
• Lead inclusive after-school sports clubs and enrichment activities
• Support the delivery of PE lessons and lead agreed practical activities
• Work with individuals and small groups to improve confidence, participation and engagement
• Encourage pupils who may not traditionally participate in sport to become involved
• Support pupils with SEND and additional needs to access PE and enrichment opportunities
• Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship
• Help organise fixtures, competitions, sports days and whole-school enrichment events
• Develop pupil leadership opportunities, including sports leaders and student ambassadors
• Work alongside pastoral staff to use sport as a way of improving engagement in school
• Support the preparation and safe use of sports equipment and facilities

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and able to build positive relationships with young people.

You should have:

• Experience working with young people
• Experience coaching or leading sport/physical activities
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• The confidence to organise and lead groups independently
• A genuine passion for sport, education and improving opportunities for young people
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
• An HLTA qualification or willingness to work towards one

Experience within a secondary school, a recognised sports coaching qualification, First Aid qualification or experience organising extracurricular clubs and sporting events would be advantageous.
