We are currently looking for a confident and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school on a long-term basis for the last half-term of the academic year.
In this role you will be working alongside another learning support assistant to provide 2 to 1 support for a pupil with Autism and severe learning difficulties. The pupil can display very challenging behaviour and has the potential to be violent towards staff so you should have experience and training in de-escalation and restraint. The school are ideally looking for an LSA with MAYBO training in positive behaviour support and solid previous experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties.
You will be based in a small class of mixed age pupils working on pathway 5, a specialised curriculum for pupils with special educational needs. Within the classroom lessons will be focused on communication and life skills.
This role is offered on a contract basis until the end of the academic year and will continue in the new academic year for the right candidate.
This specialist SEND schools caters for boys from 11 – 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties and/or disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder. All students have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health and Care Plan.
