A welcoming and supportive primary school in Lewisham is looking for an experienced SENDCO to join their team from January 2027 on a maternity cover contract.
The Role
The school is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced SENDCO who can confidently lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to thrive.
You will work closely with the Headteacher, teaching staff, support staff and families to ensure that pupils with additional needs are fully supported and included in all aspects of school life.
As this is a maternity cover position, the school is particularly keen to appoint someone with previous SENDCO experience who can step into the role with confidence and provide continuity for pupils, families and staff.
Key responsibilities will include overseeing SEND provision, managing EHCPs and reviews, supporting teachers with strategies for pupils with additional needs and liaising with parents and external professionals.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, excellent communication skills and a warm, inclusive approach. Previous experience working as a SENDCO in a primary school is essential, along with the relevant SENDCO qualification.
The School
This lovely one-form-entry Catholic primary school has a strong sense of community and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where children are encouraged to feel happy, valued and supported. There is a strong emphasis on building positive relationships with families and working together to help every child achieve their potential. Staff work closely together to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, with a shared commitment to ensuring that all children, including those with additional needs, are given the opportunity to succeed.
The school would welcome an experienced SENDCO who shares its caring ethos and can make a positive contribution to the school community during this maternity cover period.
If you are an experienced primary SENDCO looking for a rewarding opportunity from January 2027, please apply with your up-to-date CV.
