We are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant trained in Makaton and PECS to join a welcoming primary school to support two children on a 1 to 1 basis.
In this role you will be supporting two pupils with identified SEN needs on a 1 to 1 basis.
In the morning you will be working with a child in year 3 who has autism. The child is mostly non-verbal and uses PECS and Makaton to communicate. You will be supporting the child to join in with some lessons in the class but the majority of the morning you will be delivering specialist learning activities to develop the child’s basic skills.
In the afternoon you will be supporting a child in year 1. He has developmental delay and is currently at the development stage of an 18 month year old and can display challenging behaviour which will need to be supported and managed. You will be leading individual activities and joining in with the class as and when appropriate.
A core part of this role will be communication development and the school are only looking for SEN Teaching Assistants who are trained or have extensive experience using Makaton and PECS
You will be provided with support from the school and the first two days of the contract will include a handover with the SENCO and teaching assistant currently working with these children.
This role is offered on a full-time contract basis from 1st October to July 2022.
