Are you an experienced SEN teaching assistant who can manage challenging behaviour? If so there is a child who really needs your support
The school are looking for an experienced teaching assistant to work with a year 6 pupil with a range of needs. The pupil has recently joined the school and suffers from severe levels of anxiety which manifest in unusual behaviours which often distract others in the class. He is nearly a selective mute although can sometimes make inappropriate comments. Although he is in year 6 he is currently working at around year 1 level and requires support to begin early reading and early writing. He has an awareness and can sometimes be challenging in his behaviour.
As the year has already been unsettled, the school are focussing on settling him in to the school environment first and he is not attending all lessons in the classroom. You will work closely with senior management, the SENCO and the class teacher on his daily, weekly and monthly plan for development.
The school is currently rated good by Ofsted and offers excellent opportunities for their staff. There is a warm and welcoming senior management team and staff at the school. The school is close to local transport links.
