A popular Greenwich school are opening a new specialist ASD provision in September and are looking for a qualified and experienced SEN Teacher to lead the new Designated Specialist Provision (DSP).
In this role you will be the Lead teacher for the DSP. You will report in to the executive head for the schools partnership and will be directly involved in the initial setup and ongoing running of the provision. The school is currently being built as a separate unit within the site of an existing primary school in Abbeywood, Greenwich. Once completed, the school will offer provision for up to 16 ASD pupils. This will be delivered in 2 classes of 8 pupils.
All pupils attending the provision will be low-functioning on the Autism spectrum and vary in age and needs. Your role will include teaching, management of staff in the provision and liaison with the borough of Greenwich and partner provisions to provide additional therapies and in Speech and language support for pupils.
This role is to start in the Autumn term, although pupils will not be joining the DSP until January. During the first term, you will be leading preparations and resourcing for the opening to pupils. Once open in January, you will be responsible for some teaching as well as leadership.
