The Learning Centre is a specialist provision based alongside a Primary School in Kidbrooke, Greenwich. The centre accepts primary aged pupils from across the borough who are at risk of permanent exclusion and provides a nurturing setting to allow them to develop the skills to return to the mainstream classroom. Classes have no more than 6 pupils and there is an experienced staff team of teachers and support staff across the provision. All staff work closely together to plan and prepare Pupils have the chance to develop their skills in a place which fosters tolerance, confidence, understanding, independence, good behaviour and, above all; a positive attitude towards school.
Pupils remain on their home school’s register whilst attending the provision. This is to ensure that pupils have the best possible chance of returning to their mainstream school and to continue to access support from professionals that may have been working with them previously.
In this role you will be teaching a class of up to 6 pupils. Pupils will have varying needs and whilst some will have SEN needs most will have EBD/SEMH needs. Behaviour can be challenging at times and you should have training and experience in managing situations of this nature. As pupils come to the provision for varying periods, the class sizes can be smaller at times. You will be planning for your class with the rest of the teaching and leadership team and will regularly work with external teams and provide reports and assessments on your pupil’s progress.
This role is offered on a long-term contract basis initially but will be offered on a permanent contract for the right teacher.
