A successful SEND Secondary school in Haringey are looking for a qualified music teacher to join their school from September on a permanent basis.
This lovely SEND school are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and dedicated Music teacher to deliver the Music curriculum across KS3 & KS4 to pupils with MLD and SLD and the more academic students in KS5. You will be working alongside another music teacher at the school and will work closely to ensure you are delivering positive outcomes for all pupils. You should have a caring and nurturing approach and be dedicated to supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
The school are looking for a qualified teacher who has knowledge and experience of teaching Music to students with SEND with an understanding of learning disabilities and how to make adjustments. You should have a flexible and creative approach with good planning, assessment skills.
Your role will include:
- delivering KS4 assessments and exams (currently NCFE Technical Award in Music Technology)
- Setting up and leading school events / musical performances
- Managing support staff
- Work closely with other departments to strengthen arts offerings
- Communication with parents/carers
- A commitment to the safeguarding of all the school’s students and an understanding of the arrangements and procedures required to achieve effective safeguarding.
The school
This successful and welcoming secondary SEND school provides a creative and supportive education to 150 students with a wide range of general, moderate, complex, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties. The vast majority of pupils have a diagnosis of autism and the school is tailored to meet pupils needs in specialist environment led by dedicated and well-trained staff. The school works closely with Haringey Music Service who provide individual tuition and performance workshops. The school uses the therapeutic potential of the arts, employing music and art therapists to support our students’ emotional wellbeing. The school holds an Artsmark award and regularly provides arts based educational visits and collaborations.
