This role is within a specialist SEMH provision in Enfield, committed to transforming the lives of young people aged 11–16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school offers a safe, nurturing environment where pupils are empowered to engage in learning and develop practical, transferable life skills.
They are now looking to appoint an inspiring and versatile Teacher of Hair, Beauty and Barbering to join their team and deliver high-quality vocational education that supports both academic and emotional growth.
The Role
As a Hair, Beauty & Barbering Teacher, you will:
Plan and deliver creative, inclusive lessons across Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, and Barbering, tailored to SEMH learners
Teach accredited qualifications such as VTCT, City & Guilds, or AQA Unit Awards, preparing students for post-16 pathways
Adapt content to suit varying abilities, ensuring accessibility for all pupils, including those with Autism, ADHD, trauma backgrounds, or behavioural needs
Create a calm, welcoming salon-style environment where students feel confident, valued, and engaged
Promote essential skills such as communication, hygiene, customer care, and self-presentation
Support pupils with emotional regulation, self-esteem building, and goal setting through vocational learning
Track progress, contribute to EHCP reviews, and collaborate closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies
Foster a culture of high expectations, creativity, and care within your learning space
They are Looking for someone Who:
Has experience teaching or working in Hair & Beauty/Barbering (school or industry)
Holds a relevant teaching qualification (or is willing to work towards one)
Understands and applies trauma-informed, restorative approaches to behaviour
Is passionate about empowering vulnerable young people through vocational learning
Is creative, flexible, and committed to inclusive practice
The School
The students have a primary need within the area of SEMH and some students may have co-occurring needs in one or more of the following areas: communication and interaction; cognition and learning; sensory and/or physical needs.
Their core purpose is to improve the quality of life for their students
