We are currently working with a small, maintained specialist school in Brent who are seeking graduates who have an interest in working with children on the autistic spectrum to join them asap.
The school has a total of 55 children from reception to year 6. All pupils have diagnosed autism with their needs being social / behavioural rather than complex. All the children are verbal and academically capable. The school teaches the national curriculum and results are good. Classes are small with 8 – 10 pupils and there are a range of therapies and support programmes provided by the school to support both pupils and families.
The school are currently looking for two graduate teaching assistants to support pupils in the school. One will be based in the reception class and one in year 5. You will be working closely with the class teacher and other staff to support pupils during lessons and activities, and particularly providing emotional and mental health support as and when pupils may become distressed.
Whilst the school are interested in applications from experienced LSAs and ASD support workers, they are also very open to applications from graduates who are looking to pursue a career working with children with Autism.
This role is ideal for a graduate who has completed studies or is currently undertaking a masters degree in psychology, child development, counselling or similar.
You will be required to have (or be prepared to obtain) an Enhanced DBS certificate and supply 2 references in application for this position.
If this opportunity is of interest, please apply asap with an up to date CV.
