We are currently looking for a strong support worker to work with an 8 year old boy with diagnosed autism on a 1:1 basis.
In this role you will be supporting the child within the school day to access activities and interact with his peers. He is currently based in a specialist Autism unit within the school. He can partake in some activities, but also can present challenging behaviour and will need support to manage his emotions and sometime will need to work separately to the other pupils. You will primarily work with this one child although you may support or work alongside other pupils in the autism unit as required by the teaching staff.
The school are looking for a support worker rather than a teaching assistant as this role is more focussed on building relationships to support his emotional development rather than his academic progress. They are ideally looking for a down-to-earth, calm and focussed individual who is comfortable working with pupils with autism and building relationships to recognise triggers and de-escalate emotional stress.
This role is offered on a full-time basis with an immediate start. The role is expected to continue until July 2022.
