
SEND Teaching Assistant

These are full-time, long-term opportunities where you will become an integral member of one school’s support team, working consistently with the same pupils and staff to help children reach their full potential.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work full-time within one school, providing consistent support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Depending on the setting, you may support pupils on a 1:1 basis, work with small intervention groups, or assist within a specialist provision or mainstream classroom.
You will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop their communication and social skills, build confidence and achieve their individual targets. Every day is different, and you’ll work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and therapists to provide the best possible support for each child.

To be considered for these opportunities, you should have:
Experience supporting pupils with autism or knowledge of approaches such as Attention Autism, TEACCH, Makaton or PECS would be beneficial, but is not essential.
